Give The Suits A Rest … Here’s Some New Music

The Enemy – No Time For Tears

Here’s the sound of a band taking it up a level.  The Enemy return with the first offering from their forthcoming album and the sound is massive. Hope this is a marker for their next wave of material – love it.

Sebastien Grainger

Caught him at SXSW in what seems ages ago. He’s brilliant, his band leave much to be desired – quite possibly the worst rhythm section I’ve ever heard!! However, his song writing is amazing as ‘Map Of The World’ proves in abundance. Shit video though – if you have better, let me know and I’ll replace it.

The Temper Trap

The first signing to Korda Marshall’s recently re-established Infectious Records. I also saw them at SXSW but was clinically unimpressed. However, on record, they are a whole different kettle of fish. The songs are very strong and its easily imaginable that they can aspire to the Radiohead / Coldplay / U2 stratosphere. As to whether the world needs another of their ilk is a totally sperate question.

Hot Leg

Justin Hawkins is back ! His new band Hot Leg played a series of shows at SXSW. They just don’t seem to have the songs that The Darkness had. They’ve got the hair, the catsuits, the chops but its all style and no substance I’m afraid. Its good that hawkins is back in the ring but this isn’t an end game for him.

Golden Silvers

I’m really struggling with this lot. I’ve heard the full album in full and just don’t get it. I feel its wrong to comment further as maybe its just me that hasn’t got the point, but its all a bit 80s prefrab sprout and I was never a fan …
